One thought on “The Stax”

  1. Hi Nick
I have a note of Clinton Creary joining The (Coloured) Raisins in 1968 before forming Black Velvet with other members o0f The Raisins in early 69.
Also Ian Aitcheson (sax) was in The Stax in mid 67 having previously been in The Joint and later (1968) joined The Greatest Show On Earth.
By November 67 they were being advertised as “RUBY & GLEN ROY and the STAX” and in December 67 as “GLENROY OAKLEY and THE STAX featuring RUBY JAMES” both at The New All Star Club where they had a residency.
By 22nd August 69 Ruby James was with The SOUL TRINITY (Cue Club) and by 11th September 69 she was with the SOUND TREKKERS Trekkers (Whiskey A GoGo)
