Found an entry in the Harrow Weekly Post on an East Acton group called The Vectors.
The line up around July 1965:
Phil Hanlon – vocals, harmonica
Tony Ballinger – lead guitar
Stewart Hanlon – rhythm guitar
Keith Tritton – bass
Roy King – drums
I would welcome any further information on this band.
Found two dates in the Middlesex County Times and West Middlesex Gazette, which I assume is the same band
22 and 29 April 1966 – Ealing Town Hall
Hi Nick, I bet you’re as surprised to get a comment on The Vectors as I was to find this entry! Reminiscing with a friend about my misspent youth, I decided – as you do – to google the band and came here! I was there in ’65! I knew them from hanging out at a friend’s flat in The Vale, Acton in ’65/’66. They played gigs at The Overseas Visitor’s Club in Earls Court quite regularly – a crowd of us would go with them as roadies in their beaten up blue van, to get in free. They also played in Holland Park (maybe Bedsitters Club?) I knew them well, (dated the Hanlon brothers who lived on the White City estate – even seedier than The Vale) and we had a blast. They were pretty good too, mostly R’n’B. I wonder what became of them? Long before then as a kid, I lived in Bedford Park, and had Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle as near neighbours (before they got together), Pete went to my primary school, as did John’s cousin, ( I dated him too when I was 21), and only last Monday, I was at the O2 to see The Who’s final concert on their ‘goodbye’ tour. Happy days!
Hello! My brother was the drummer – you have him listed as Ray King, but his first name is Roy. I’m unsure if he’s still in contact with the other band members but will ask. Is there any particular information you’d be interested in ?
Thx
Lorraine Light (nee King)
Hi Lorraine
Sorry about the misspelling. I will fix that tomorrow. I will contact you directly by email and if he would like to do a short potted history, I can load it and credit him
Hello Lorraine!
I used to play with Keith and Roy in a band called The Dynamos in the early 60s. We used to practice in a prefab!
I’ve tried everything to try to find them and make contact, and have just found this page! Would be great to catch up with Roy or Keith if you can help put me in touch?
Thanks,
Ray Bridges
