Three schoolgirls, Serene Wee (13), her sister, Merlina Wee (12), and their cousin, Bernedette De Souza (12), won the Radio and Television Singapura Talentime contest for 1967/68 and as part of their prize got to record two EPs with RCA.
On the first EP they recorded the song that won them the prize, “I Believe”, and also “Lace Covered Window”, “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do”, and “Never My Love”, the latter song made famous by The Association, but recorded by many other artists. The Tidbits were backed on this EP by popular Singapore band The Trailers.
On their second EP, also in 1968, The Tidbits were backed by The X’periment and then went back to being schoolgirls.
Thnaks!!!
In church last Sunday, the choir sang I believe and memories came flooding back from the late sixties about three female singers singing this song and it took me quite sometime to track them down.
I am hoping if anyone out there have the version of the song I believe by the Tidbits that can be downloaded.
Thanks and regards,
John
There is a version on youtube.
I used to adore these three schoolgirl singers when I was in Form 3. I even possessed their debut EP.
Wonder where they are now and what they are doing in the 21st century?
Where can I download all the songs by Tidbits? I don’t seem to find many.
Thanks!
By the way, I remember their sweet voices and excellent harmony, when I was in sec 4. Just sweet memory hearing them sing I believe and Lace Covered Windows.
Oh yes. Does anyone know of their whereabouts? What are they doing now? Are they still singing? They should be grandmas now 🙂
