The Feltham R&B Club was a notable venue for up and coming West London bands. From a historical perspective, perhaps the most noted outfit to play there was 1984, which featured future Queen guitarist Brian May.
I would welcome any history on this venue and also any additional information on bands that played there.
10 September 1966 – The Trendbender Band with Barney J Barnes
15 October 1966 – The Trendbender Band with Barney J Barnes
15 July 1967 – The Sugar Band
22 July 1967 – 1984

Great to see you have a date for a 1984 gig. Do you have anymore dates? Brian May remembers playing the venue. 1984 also played Feltham R & B Club 21 December 1964. cheers Jim
I remember we use to call it Benny’s some great local bands played there one of the best being the Ice Show also saw the Skatilites there in the late 60s. Walking home along Bedfont Lane with my ears ringing
I was the organist with the Ice Show, nice to know we are still remembered. I well remember the club which we played regularly. I think that was the venue where we staged a mock ‘rock black mass’ – all good publicity.
I remember seeing Jimi Hendrix at where I thought was Feltham in 1966 or 1967. It was in a quite large club above shops. Looking at the lists of his gigs for this period it doesn’t mention the Feltham R&B club but he did appear at the Ricky Tick in Hounslow. I’m still convinced it was Feltham where I saw him. It is nearly 50 years ago but my memory of this very memorable gig is still quite sharp. The first number on the set list was Wild Thing and the whole gig was absolutely stunning and very loud !
Roger Lunt, I reckon you are thinking of the Cricketers pub. They had a hall above and had popular acts like Desmond Decker and the Aces but I don’t remember Hendrix playing there. The R& B club was in what was once ( I believe) a Church Hall or Civic Hall, behind the Playhouse Cinema. It was run by Bennie Irvine. I remember bands such as ‘The Trend Bender Band’ which became ‘Barney J Barns and the Intro’ and then ‘The Short Stop Band’ They released a record called ‘Can’t Stand the Pain’ but it didn’t make the charts to my knowledge, ‘Themselves’ who became ‘Virgin Sleep’ when they released a record called ‘Love’, Jo Jo Gunne ( who were in conflict with the America band of the same name). They were contestants in a Nationwide Talent Competition and bus loads from the R&B club went to Brighton to support them. They won their heat and went into the final at the London Paladium where they came second ( I think) despite the huge support they had from the audience ( mainly patrons of the R&B Club. I still have my Club Membership Card somewhere, happy days !
Marshall Scott played on 8 July 1967 according to Hounslow Post
